Alpha Floods 2012

The widespread flooding of February 2012 offered up some challenges for both the mining/exploration industry and regional communities across Queensland. One of the hardest hit areas we saw was the small township of Alpha. Sudden downpours in an already saturated area saw the township cut off and under water.

GeoLog had operators stranded in Alpha who were involved in the evacuation and are heartened by the stories of support and community spirit that came out of the event. Below are some letters we received via the Alpha Coal Project from children at the local state school. A big thankyou to the GeoLog personnel and everyone else involved.
